Angete and the Merman

This full length music film is an adaptation of an immersive sonic theatre piece created by the composer Cristián Vogel and simultaneously adapted to a 54 minute film shot in Denmark by myself and Tanya Goehring. In addition to filming, I was the editor.

The story is loosely based on a Scandinavian supernatural folk ballad of the same title. In the staged version, the actors and audience were immersed in the music as it played through a 24 channel Funktion-One sound set up in a theatre in Aarhus, Denmark. In 2017 this film was shown at ZKM InSonic Immersive Futures, Render International Music Video Festival, Aarhus European Capital of Culture and in 2020 at the Berliner Philharmoniker STROM.

Agnete and the Merman: A Documentary with Cristian Vogel

While we were in Denmark filming the adaptation, we also shot behind the scenes and an interview with Cristian Vogel. I was responsible for the audio recording and the full edit.
